Science + Mathematics

The program is a celebration of the students’ accomplishments in mathematics and of Kovalevsky, the first recognized female with a Ph. D. to make significant contributions to the field of mathematics before the 20th century.

注册可领一元微信提现This program is for young women in grades 6 through 8 from Kansas. This STEM outreach program is held every year on the first Saturday in March. Approximately 50 women professionals from the state of Kansas volunteer their time every year to make the event a success.

注册可领一元微信提现This camp is for girls entering the 8th & 9th grade and is held every year in June. Students come to campus to explore STEM subjects. This smaller, multiple-day program allows students to tackle subjects and projects more deeply than what a single-day program allows. Also, field trips and social events are an important part of the program.

This math enrichment program is for middle school students entering 6th to 9th grades. It consists of two components: a four-day summer camp at ESU and a weekly program in the fall and spring at EMS. Students work on problem-solving and other hands-on projects. The group participates in American Mathematics Competitions in the fall and takes a field trip in the spring.

This is a one-day, state-wide program for 6th to 8th grade Hispanic students. Its goal is to increase Hispanic youth’s interest in science and mathematics. Hispanic STEM professionals from across the state come to ESU to volunteer their time to present a variety of hands-on workshops. Students explore topics such as: engineering, physics, medicine, chemistry, and veterinary medicine.

Kansas Future Teacher Academy

Since 1989, the Kansas Future Teacher Academy teaches high school students the challenges and rewards of teaching and is a highly-respected training opportunity for students in the state of Kansas. During this five-day program, students will engage in a variety of activities that will help them understand what teachers do and determine if they have the potential for meeting this professional challenge.

Business

Tuesday December 10, 2019

This program is for high school students. During their time on campus, students attend professional presentations encompassing business careers including sessions on accounting, computer science/information systems, Marketing, Management/Business Administration, Finance/Entrepreneurship, and business education. Students also have an opportunity to visit with business professionals and faculty about their academic interests.

Music

Wednesday August 8, 2018

This is a four-day summer program for string players (violin, viola, cello, bass) entering grades 6th to 12th. Students work on improving proficiency in several key areas of musical development. These include activities for the development of repertoire, technique, musicianship, solo and ensemble playing. The camp concludes with a concert.

Tuesday October 1, 2019

This event is open to all high school marching bands in Kansas. Written & taped comments will be provided to the bands. The event includes five or six judges (three for band, one or two for colorguard and one for drumline). Trophies, plaques or certificates will be awarded and include first, second and third place marching band, outstanding drumline, and outstanding colorguard. An optional marching band clinic will be offered to the participants (for no extra charge) after the performances.

注册可领一元微信提现This event is open to all Kansas high school students. This event provides students with an opportunity to experience life as a college music student by attending music classes, ensembles, and applied lessons.

This event is an invitational event for Kansas high school students and will comprise an honor band of Kansas high school students and select ESU students performing with the high school students. There will be rehearsals in the morning and afternoon, culminating in a late-afternoon concert open to the public.

Saturday February 1, 2020

This event is open to Kansas woodwind, brass, and percussion players of all ages. Mailings/invitations will be sent to Kansas middle schools, high schools, and colleges. Participants may play individually in master classes and be given general verbal critiques (no ratings) by guest artists or ESU faculty. All Participants will play in groups of specific instruments which may be divided by grade level (e.g. middle school and high school flute choirs) and will perform a final concert at the end of the day. This concert is open to the public and will provide families and music directors an opportunity to see their children in concert.

This is an invitational event for Kansas middle school choirs, that includes a one-day festival for middle schools choirs in which the students will learn about singing technique, musical skills, leadership skills, and participate in group singing. No awards or ratings are given for this event.

Sunday March 1, 2020

注册可领一元微信提现This is an invitational event for Kansas madrigal choirs. High school madrigal choirs and small vocal ensembles will perform for one clinician and will be verbally critiqued after their performance. The clinician will then work with each group individually.

Wednesday April 1, 2020

注册可领一元微信提现This event is open to all Kansas middle school large groups (bands, choirs) as well as solos and small ensembles. The judges will provide both written and verbal comments and there will be short clinic opportunities after each performance.

Nursing

Saturday April 13, 2019

Students will engage in a variety of hands-on learning activities to explore the nursing profession including professionalism, safety, first aid, CPR, common medical emergencies, and care of the infant and child, including dressing, feeding, diapering and play.

Areas of concentration will include focusing on all fundamental skills of setting, passing, digging, serving, blocking, and hitting; teaching basic game rotations and game situations; building confidence and competitiveness and preparing for the next level playing experience.

注册可领一元微信提现The workshop is open to any middle school, high school, college student as well as coaches. The focus is on improving the mental game. Mental skills are often not an important component of training because few athletes and coaches are formally exposed to mental skills and drills. This workshop will provide specific components that will develop the mental side of performance. Specific drills will be provided that will help the participants develop a systemic approach to developing mental skills.

Softball Junior day camps are a fun and instructional-based camp focusing on the basic fundamentals of the game with emphasis on becoming a better overall player. Special attention will be given to hitting, fielding, and base running, as well as development of teamwork, self-confidence and the mental approach. Special awards will be given at the conclusion of camp, along with a camp T-shirt. All campers should bring a glove, water bottle, and tennis shoes with socks. Please dress for activity. Cleats, bats, helmets, and batting gloves are optional.

Softball Elite Camps are geared toward the experienced softball player. Elite camp will feature high intensity drills designed for the player looking to further develop her hitting, fielding, base running and mental skill sets. Emphasis will be given to defensive skill work for specific player positions, including pitching. All offensive and defensive techniques will be addressed through game-like situations. A camp T-shirt will be included.
